Miss Brazoria Winners Duties and Obligations
Contestant winner Miss Brazoria will need to perform the following duties, as her academic and/or work schedule allows. The chamber will consult the winner before committing her to these events. The winner’s education and any job that they hold will always take precedence over her duties.
- Attending and participating in the Brazoria No-Name Festival, including helping with the auction, announcing winners for raffle BBQ, & various events.
- Attending and participating in ribbon cuttings for new businesses.
- To participate in any parade that the chamber decides to take part in.
- To represent our chamber and community at any other function that they would be able to attend (i.e. annual banquet, Christmas tree, Santa Anna Ball, March Celebration, lighting, etc.)
- Miss Brazoria will need to return for the next Miss Brazoria Pageant to crown the Next
Miss Brazoria.
Deciding to be in a Pageant
When entering a pageant, you need to have the correct frame of mind. It can certainly help in your pursuit for success. Here are some ways to do that.
- Never enter to win. This rule may sound slightly contradictive at first, but it is for your protection. I know that deep down, you hope your name is the last one called out, but you do not want to be humiliated if it is not. If you do not brag about yourself and “how easy this will be to win”, you will not have to worry about what you will be facing if you do not place. Keep your hope to yourself and the thud will be easier to take, should you have to take one.
- Eliminate added stress. Again, this can be done by keeping your desire to win to yourself. It also helps to keep those, if any who may be negative towards your success at arms length. If you constantly hear that you cannot win then you may start to believe it. NO NEGATIVITY IS YOUR GOAL
- Take defeat with a grain of salt. Not winning a pageant does not mean, you are not a winner. Many former pageant winners have entered repeatedly before they obtained a title. It is important not to let the loss of one ruin the win of another. Even if you never win a title, persistence and drive are two qualities that will carry you very far in life.
- You are always a winner. No matter how you place, or even if you do not place at all, you had the guts to enter.
- Do not give up. You must believe in yourself enough to give yourself more than one chance. Learn from the pageant you enter. Take what you have experienced and use it to your advantage. One group of judges may not vote in your favor, but another group may. You will never encounter the same group of judges twice.
- Always Smile. This rule is self-explanatory. No matter how bad it gets never let them see anything other than a smile.
